GradeSource is an online service for instructors and students. Instructors benefit from our extensive online course management application where their students are able to check their grades and other statistical information on the Internet.

  • GradeSource is convenient:  It allows instructors to create and maintain their course records from anywhere on the internet. If you have access to a Web browser, you have access to your records.

  • GradeSource is versatile:  It has multiple ways it can interpret, sort, and display course data.

  • GradeSource improves integrity of course data:  When the instructor generates anonymous student accessible reports the students can contact the instructor immediately for correction if they see a missing score or a score recorded in error.

  • GradeSource motivates students:  When students can immediately see the effects of their work, they can track their progress to see their course standing change with each new report posting.

  • GradeSource saves time:  Student conferences about grades are reduced since students can know exactly where they stand at all times.

  • GradeSource is free!  Our service is supported through advertisement from our sponsors. If you prefer, we also have fee-based service without advertisements.
Within an individual instructor account on a per course basis, GradeSource maintains categories, percentage weightings, and student scores. GradeSource generates secure reports for instructor viewing and anonymous reports for student viewing. The reports list the raw scores, histograms, statistics, and rankings based on each assessment (homework, exams, labs, etc.), each category, and the entire course. Students identify their scores using a randomly generated secret number that GradeSource individually emails to them. GradeSource includes in that email the URL for the main student report web page. Instructors can also link that report page to a course page that they independently maintain.

GradeSource has additional utilities to automate course administration. As well as individually adding, deleting or modifying student course records, GradeSource can create, import and update the student roster. When reimporting the student roster, GradeSource automatically indicates new students that have added and obsolete students that have dropped. The instructor can optionally assign one or more surrogate users to a course so that teaching assistants can also maintain course data. Not only does GradeSource email secret numbers to students, GradeSource also can email user created messages to all or to individual students.

An instructor can establish a GradeSource account individually or a school can collectively establish GradeSource accounts for instructors through a special school administrator account. If other instructors at your school would like to use GradeSource, our staff can establish a GradeSource administrator account for your school that can streamline account setup and student roster imports. For more information, please email us with the name, position, phone number, and email address of an appropriate administrator at your school.

All GradeSource functionality is available though Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater and Netscape 4.06 or greater.
